The overfall in Miles Inlet.

5 years ago, i didnt get a chance to really watch this overfall, its quite amazing, when the tide is very low, as it was that day, there is a big reef, which totally blocks off the little inlet beyond, but then, slowly, as the water comes up, it starts filling up, and after 30 minutes or so, it runs very hard, a two sided waterfall is created, then it totally covers the whole reef, like nothing was there in the first place, fascinating to watch!!

May 14, Tess’ birthday!!

The weather had been iffy, not too great to go around Cape Caution as yet, we traveled to Miles Inlet, a great place to hide, with enough room for several boats, we stayed here 5 years ago also, and would go out in the dinghy , to the entrance , to have a peek outside, this time there was a blow for a couple of days, so we wanted to wait for the swell to go down, in hindsight we should have waited another day, because when we did take off, the swells were very uncomfortable, but first a couple of photos from Miles Inlet, then i will tell more of good old Cape Caution.

Dit is voor mijn broer en schoonzusje!!!! Everyone, here we go again!!

So, on May 13th we headed for Blunden harbour, we anchored behind Baraka Bashad, and our other boating friends followed behind us.     Blunden harbour is nice and big, lots of room, also with lots of history of the First nations. As we came in, SV MAPLELEAF was anchored close to the entrance, such a beautiful boat, it would be amazing to go on a cruise with her!!

boating……

It is June the 5th, i am so way behind, as its basically impossible to connect to wifi.    Right now i am in Vaughan and Rita’s boat, where they can pick up a decent connection.  I want to first continue with a few more places we stopped, places where we traveled to, and photos that are worth showing!      After Port McNeill ,we headed to Blunden harbour, anchored there for the night and then motored to Miles Inlet, the anchorage before Cape Caution, the weather turned a bit nasty, this was May 14th, Miles inlet is lovely, we were here before, 4 years ago, and this time we anchored near the overfall, where you can watch the tide at work, amazing, all this water, just going where it needs to go, it felt good to be somewhere for a few days, relax, visit each other, take photos, bake cookies for our friends!!    (most important)

Port McNeill,love this town!!

WE used to live here, at least, i did with Annie, my little cat, Bert was working in Vancouver at the time, we made good friends here, and during this visit we saw some of them again.    The three boats tied to the dock, and the lovely chores started of laundries, grocery shopping, vacuum the boat, do some baking, vacuum again, more groceries, i was quite pooped after being at the dock there.   We did go out for dinner and there we met up again with Mo and Bob, the friends who saved me, when i had fallen on the black ice and broken my wrist.     Folks here are kind ,life is simple, away from the big city, people help each other, and are always there for each other.   Like i said, love this town!!!!   The marina eagles were there, waiting for us, sitting on top of the mast of the largest sailboat, and just yak up a storm to each other.    We filled with fuel, and headed out on May 13 th, at 10.15, good thing i write these things down otherwise i would not have a clue!!!Journey to Glacier Bay 097.JPGNew solar panel, a proud Bert showing it off, it was sent to us from Chemainus of all places!!!    Good price too!!!Journey to Glacier Bay 099.JPG Continue reading

Rendezvous in Port Neville.

Once we had Campbell River behind us, and the rapids in Seymour Narrows, we high tailed it to Port Neville, where we hoped to meet up with sv Baraka Bashad, with her wonderful owners,  Vaughan and Rita, we always anchor well to the back, its quiet there, and we have seen grizzle bears there and have been circled by pacific White sided dolphins , playing around our bow.  Vaughan and Rita arrived a few hours later and it truly was a wonderful site to see that fine boat come around the corner!!Journey to Glacier Bay 064.JPGJourney to Glacier Bay 064
