Anan Bears.

We stayed there most of the day, at least, while the tide was so low, we couldnt get enough of watching the bears.  The guide told us about a momma bear with 3 cubs, she has lived here all her life, as they record every year, which bears show up. We had not seen her yet, but did see the 2 sisters again, working their way to the falls.  I had the feeling that they were her offspring too.  The cubs stay with the mom for 3 years. A few days ago, some visitors came upon the momma bear , nursing her cubs, right in the middle of the path, she didnt move, didnt even pay any attention to the folks. We kept going along the walk, the forest is just beautiful and after a while , the trail comes out  overlooking the lagoon, and there, in the middle, was mom bear, with the three cubs, what a sight!!!    One of the cubs had found a fish and was trying to figure out what to do with it, these cubs are from this spring, so they still had a lot to learn.  The two other cubs were playing, one of them became very wild and giddy, and started to run , the other one following, amazing, the speed they had, mom bear was just not too sure of this, but also did not feel like running after these guys, she snorted, and started to run, just a bit, the cubs stopped, looked at her, and took off again and high speed!!! She was so frustrated, i sure could understand how she felt!!  All this went on for a while, till the cubs tired.  She is a light brown color, two of the cubs were dark, the third light like mom. This was the highlight for us of this trip, so very much worth it!!!!!

Anan bears…

A lot of the photos were taken from the dinghy, so it was hard to focus properly, plus it was getting dark, plus the blackflies were REALLY bugging me!!!  We went to shore the next morning, waiting till the tide dropped, so that the lagoon has no water in it. The two guides carry guns, just in case, but you are on your own, one of them just gave a little story, and then said, just follow the trail, up to the lookout, the other guide will be there!!   We had barely started when a big black face came out of the woods, fish in his teeth, looked at us, and just started on the trail, walking in front of us, i could have touched him!!!! We followed the big black bum, did i think of my camera??? noooo…….He went into the woods after a while, not even looking at us, and we continued on the trail. Here and there it was dug up badly and we found out that the bears do this, the young ones, practicing to dig a den. We didnt see any bears till we got to the falls, we climbed up to the observatory, which is obscured by cloth, so it doesnt disturb the bears, the other guide told us to watch over the side , and there were two black faces, coming out of the rocks, two big bears, just sitting alongside the falls, grabbing a fish when they felt like it.
