Looking out towards the ocean…

to Pruth bay..
On to Pruth Bay, other boaters kept telling us, you have to go there, its a wonderful place, so away we went. No sailing, just motoring, saw a beautiful Stellar Sealion , a big bull,, all by himself, snorting and looking at us, apparently they are endangered. The wind came up, right on the nose, all the way down Kwakshua channel, plus the tide was against us,so we made very slow speed, Pruth Bay is at the end, just about, very close to the ocean, the Hakai Ocean institute is there, it used to be a fishing resort, but the Hakai bought it, everything included, dishes and all, the property is very well kept, the buildings suiting the surroundings. They made a wonderful trail,to the ocean, and as you come out of the woods, you are met with a stunning beach, all sand, silver bleached driftwood, and incredible rock formations, what a joy to see. There is no garbage on the beach, the reason being that everyone pitches in, a huge bin is at the entrance to the beach, where you can put all the plastics. By now, all the debris from Japan is starting to flow in, up at the buildings they have bins ,chock full of fenders, every colour imaginable ,every size. And then to think, that this is just one little spot along the shore, what about the rest of it……..I love this beach, and it makes us very exited , to look across the ocean, straight across to Japan, but to the south….Australia!!!!!!! But , we will talk about that later…
micro greens
Image

We grow micro greens on board, every kind of seeds possible, peas, kale, parsley, spinach, beets, i grow them in the plastic containers from the salad greens you buy in the store, the cover is the water catcher underneath, works like a charm!!! They grow fast, i snip them off, and they start again, very nutritious, and yummie!!!
prawns…..

ok now, you are thinking, whats with the prawns, well, you see, these are our very first, self caught prawns, we tried and tried in the past, did what everybody else did,but no prawns, just those little lobsterlike thinghies….so, we are proud of this catch.!!!!

Dawsons landing to Pruth Bay
ON July 7th, we motored to Dawsons landing, we wanted to fill with fuel, maybe water, and the store there is suppose to be well stocked. The docks consist of one , long dock, many, many feet of it, with small float houses alongside, it all looks very rustic, from a time, way back, i liked the feel of the place. The store is run by Nola, Rob does all the other work, they depend on the freight boat for supplies, and it had not come in yet…..I did find the most delicious smoked salmon from Bella Coola, didnt take us long to finish that off..We stayed one night, spend some time with the two german sheppards ,that guard the store, and the one little tabbycat, who was very interested in our boat. I think its a very hard job, to keep the marina up to par, nature is hard on things here, but the overall setting is nice.
