Everything in the cannery buildings has been kept as it was, everything was also very well explained as you will see. The nets were hand made so the holes had to be of the right size so the salmon could not escape. A fake head served as an example.
Everything was hand made, what a job!! But then, its still usable to this day.
One of the old wooden fishing boats, used by the Japanese fishermen.
Nets are repaired in the loft.
Every spare part imaginable for the machinery is kept here.
The office, where all records were kept, and the payroll for the workers. We found out, that all the First nation and Chinese and Japanese workers had a work record, on which would be stated how many hours they worked, but, they were actually never paid, anything they needed, to live there, was to be bought in the company store. So…..slowly but surely, they used up every bit of the money owing them, and actually , after a while, OWED the company, so therefore never getting paid at all!!! All i can say about this: bloody crooks!!!!!
