Continuing along the coast,on highway 1.

After Leggett, highway 1 veers off again towards the water, the towns become more picturesque, beautiful old houses, well kept gardens with amazing succulents growing in them,we stopped for a while in Westport,Fort Bragg and Mendocino. Mendocino is a nice town, it has history and atmosphere, and we stayed around for a while, i found a beadshop and there was just no way i was not going to check it out!!!! The town’s name comes from Cape Mendocino, named by early Spanish navigators in honor of Antonio de Mendoza,Viceroy of New Spain. The town is small but because of its location ,surrounded by the Pacific ocean,it has become very popular with artists and tourists.
Since 1987,Mendocino has been the site for the Mendocino music festival, which is held in a huge circus type tent,in Mendocino Headlands State park.
On Albion street stands the Temple of Kwan Tai which dates from 1854,and is one of the oldest Chinese houses of worship in California.
The town is home to a large number of bed and breakfasts, one more rustic and beautiful then the next.
