This hike goes up and over a hilly area, halfway there, we came upon a lake, the water table quite low, waterlilies everywhere, what a nice surprise!!! The forest is so wild, being right at the Pacific Ocean , the trees have a hard time growing straight, but most of the cedars are huge, enormous bases, but not very tall. We saw interesting prints in the mud at the shore of the lake, we believe one of them to be a bear print……we couldnt check it out up close, because the mud just didnt look like it should be walked on, if you know what i mean. The trail is very well maintained, everywhere are ropes, so you can pull yourself up, boardwalks here and there, and even a very tall stairs,(40 steps) all made out of cedar. The surprise at the end is the beach, just as beautiful or maybe even more so then the south beach and.. the sun was shining,no fog!!!!.First thing we did is find a good size log and have lunch.
