We arrived in Ketchikan, in very cold weather, blowing like crazy, raining, and no visibility whatsoever. They gave us a slip on the outside, thank goodness, and i was very happy to be on a dock, the wind was up to 45 knots by then. We again watched a cruise ship come in from the north, accompanied by the two harbor police boats, machine guns mounted on the front, the guys dressed as if ready for a big battle. I just dont really understand this, unless they have had trouble here before…..I could not imagine this happening in Victoria………We stayed two nights, walked the town, again, shopped again, bought wine in boxes this time, a great deal out here, Argentinian Malbec for 25 bucks. (equal to 4 bottles)We left on Aug. 29, a sunny beautiful  day, and bought diesel, we were getting very low, she took a total of 480 litres!!  we hold appr. 550.  We decided to head for Foggy Bay, friends had told us to not bother with this anchorage, but i am so glad we went, it was blowing again, there was a good size swell near the entrance, every where were guys in kayaks, fishing!!!  My first thought was, what if you hooked a very large fish??? in a kayak????  The entrance to Foggy bay is very obscure, reefs everywhere, we had to weave in and out of the reefs to get to the entrance, which was way in the back, i was really starting to doubt that there was an anchorage there at all. The shores were lined with black rock, it looked like a volcano just erupted here, the rock had a fringe of bright yellow seaweed below it, just beautiful, these colors. There was already a powerboat in there, but we never did see anybody at all.  We were treated to a wonderful sunset that evening, i was so glad we came in here.
