Anan Bear and Wildlife Observatory.

Anan Bay lies off Bradfield canal, the creek is fed by two large lakes, in front is a small bay for anchoring, tied near the shore is a small building where the two  biologists live that run the program here. Both are young people, who have recently graduated. They are here for the summer, and guide 60 people per day to the waterfall, along the creek.  The inside of the creek entrance reveals a large lagoon, with huge mudflats. At high tide we went in with our dinghy slowly  motoring towards the falls, where two brown bears were fishing, plus a staggering amount of gulls. Eagles were in every tree, on every branch, we counted 38 of them in the evening.   The two young bears are sisters, well known to the biologists, actually all the bears are well known, they tolerate people, are very used to them, but as long as you give them respect. We were the only boat here, the park was open for only two more days, and it was very quiet , very nice!!!   We stayed in the lagoon till dark, watching the bears, they ate the heads off the salmon, played together, ate some more, nice big fat bears, ready for winter.
